We're a shooting sports club built around four disciplines — archery, trap, smallbore, and airguns — for members who want to sharpen their skills and compete in a safe, well-run environment.

Clay County Shooting Sports brings together shooters and archers of every experience level under one club, built on safety, responsibility, and community — with real competition and real growth along the way.
Whether you're drawing a recurve bow for the first time or fine-tuning your position on the smallbore rifle line, our range and equipment support training, practice, and competitive events across all four disciplines. Members range from newcomers learning the basics to experienced competitors preparing for sanctioned matches.
Every session starts and ends with safety. Before anything else, members learn proper handling, range etiquette, and the discipline that any shooting sport demands.
Caring for equipment, following the rules, and owning your own outcomes. We teach kids what it means to be trusted with real responsibility, on the range and off it.
Coaches, parents, and members show up for each other season after season. It's a shared effort built as much on mentorship as on marksmanship.
From a first practice to a state qualifier, members compete and improve together — kids learning and growing, match by match, season by season.
Four ways to compete, practice, and improve — pick one or shoot them all.
Compound and recurve. Modern bows use a cam-and-cable system for mechanical let-off, holding archers at full draw with precision and consistency; recurve is the traditional Olympic-style bow, with curved limbs and no mechanical assist. Both are a test of form, strength, and repetition.

Our trap program includes both 4-H competitors and the Clay Center Community High School Trap Team, which competes weekly in the Kansas State High School Clay Target League.
